We’re getting the chance to nominate which highways in Central Victoria most urgently need repairs or upgrades.
The RACV has launched its 2026 My Country Roads survey, as the organisation aims to identify the state’s worst routes for drivers.
According to their Head of Policy, James Williams, feedback from past surveys has played a critical role in identifying safety concerns, and influencing government planning and investment decisions.
“This campaign provides governments with the information to prioritise limited funding based on feedback from the people who use these roads,” Mr Williams said.
“This includes road resurfacing, shoulder widening, additional overtaking lanes and intersection improvements.”

2026’s survey identifies 52 roads which the Club considers to be the “most dangerous” in regional Victoria.
Locally, this includes the Pyrenees Hwy between Maryborough and Castlemaine; Loddon Valley Hwy between Bendigo and Kerang; McIvor Hwy between Bendigo and Heathcote; and Northern Highway between Echuca and Wallan.
Those whose participate in the survey can choose to select one of these roads, or nominate their own, along with additional information about the “highest priority solution” to make the road safer.
Solutions offered include resurfacing, lowering the speed limit, improving signage or markings, removing vegetation, installing barriers or duplicating lanes.
More information can be found on the RACV’s website.
