Bendigo police probing arson attack

An investigation has been launched into the apparent firebombing of a convenience store in Bendigo’s CBD.

The alleged arson attack took place on Thursday morning, July 16th at the front of the shop, located in the Lyttleton Centre arcade near Coles.

Victoria Police confirmed in a statement to Gold Central Victoria that detectives from the Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit are looking into the matter.

“It is understood two offenders lit a fire outside the shop on Lyttleton Terrace about 7.15am,” the spokesperson said.

“No one was inside the business at the time of the incident.

“Police were told the offenders fled in the vehicle.

“Detectives are investigating whether another fire on Fir Street in Golden Square a short time later is linked.”

As of Friday morning, no arrests have been made in relation to the matter.
