SPRING is in the air and there is no better way to enjoy the wonders of nature than visiting the beautiful gardens of Castlemaine and surrounds. This year Castlemaine celebrates its 15th biennial Festival of Gardens. The festival opens on November 3 and continues daily through to November 11 (Melbourne Cup week). Be inspired by a glamorous field of spectacular gardens. There are 22 gardens on display, giving you the choice of exquisite town gardens around Castlemaine and Maldon, or the breathtaking large country gardens of Barkers Creek, Harcourt, Newstead and Sutton Grange. Many of the gardens have plants for sale, with some offering morning and afternoon tea and other delightful surprises. All provide a peaceful surrounding to just meander and relax. Most gardens are open between 10 am and 5 pm.
Brochures picturing each garden, their locations and opening times are available from the Castlemaine, Maldon and Bendigo Visitor Information Centres and selected retailers and hospitality venues throughout Mount Alexander Shire. For more information visit www.festivalofgardens.org
