Authorities Urging Residents to Prepare Properties With Fire Danger Period Announced for Bendigo and Central Victoria

Following the announcement that fire restrictions will be kick off in Greater Bendigo next week, authorities say it’s important to prepare properties.

CFA community engagement officer Paul Tangey said that despite the weekend’s rain, it’s important to be ready for next Wednesday’s start to the new season.
 
“Thing will grow, there will be more fuel around.” 
 
He said the next week overgrown plants need to be “cleaned up”.

Central Victorian fire danger periods are set to begin in the next couple of weeks. 
 
For the Greater Bendigo and Central Goldfields regions, restrictions will be in place from December the 19th.

Meanwhile, for Greater Castlemaine and Maldon residents, restrictions will start from December the 28th.
 
The fire danger period is not the same as a total fire ban.
