The Coalition has made an election promise to upgrade Bendigo sporting reserves, as part of plans to boost participation and support crime prevention initiatives.
The Opposition has committed $3 million to the second stage of North Bendigo’s recreation reserve redevelopment and $500,000 to Malone Park upgrades in Marong.
The project will see improved change rooms, new lighting and female-friendly facilities.
Nationals’ candidate for Bendigo, Andrew Lethlean, says he was confident better and safer community facilities would increase participation in local sport.
Liberal candidate for Bendigo Matt Evans also welcomed the announcement, saying it’s another positive step in the Coalition’s plan to invest in the region.
