Gambling harm affecting young Central Victorians is in the spotlight, with new data highlighting poker machines and online betting as problem areas.
The Australian Gambling Research Centre found Australians aged 18 to 34 who bet regularly online spend an average of nearly $900 per month and those who regularly use poker machines spent nearly $1,500 per month with a third of that spent on the pokies.
Dr Nancy Greer says young people from regional areas are particularly at risk.

Meanwhile, more than $125,000 is spent across Bendigo’s 662 pokies every day.
