Police, fire trucks, and SES crews from around the region rescued an elderly couple by boat after their car went into Lake Weeroona, Bendigo’s CBD.
The pair were trapped in the car just about 20 meters from the shoreline, with water at the bottom of the front windows.
Police say that the car left the carpark near the playground and rolled down an embankment before ending up in the local lake.

A crowd of bystanders watched from the banks of the lake, except for locals Molly and Xiaver, who couldn’t just stand by and watch – they jumped in to help!
