Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) is looking for the next generation of firefighters.
Bendigo-based, Commander Trent McKinnon is encouraging people from all walks of life to make a difference in the community by considering firefighting as a career.
All recruits will go through world-class training and support throughout their careers. Along this journey, firefighters develop a unique knowledge base, build an extensive range of skills and gather an impressive suite of qualifications.
As firefighters are first responders, especially in emergencies, FRV is looking for people with strong problem-solving skills, integrity, accountability and appropriate all-around strength and fitness.
FRV firefighters are also provided with great opportunities for role specialisation and career progression. These include Emergency Medical Response (EMR), Urban Search and Rescue, High Angle Rescue, Heavy Rescue, Road Crash Rescue, Marine Response and more.
FRV Acting Commissioner Michelle Cowling calls firefighting is no ordinary job.
“Some jobs stand out for the profound impact they have on the community, and this is a great case in point,” Acting Commissioner Cowling says.
“Firefighting is a highly respected profession and quickly becomes an extraordinary career.”
“It’s a job in which no two days are the same, and every single day firefighters make a difference, working alongside Victoria’s other emergency services.”
Acting Commissioner Cowling says FRV wants its workforce to reflect the diversity of the community they serve.
Applications for FRV’s for firefighter recruitment will be open between 1 and 8 July 2024.
