The first patients will be admitted to Maryborough’s newly expanded and upgraded district hospital this week.
The $115 million facility was officially opened on Thursday, featuring a new urgent care centre, two operating theatres and recovery spaces and a day medical centre.
A new maternity unit will also help local mothers give birth closer to home.

Work is continuing on a new state-of-the-art logistics hub, which will make it faster and more efficient to distribute supplies throughout the hospital.
Member for Ripon, Martha Haylett, has thanked the construction workers and staff who made the project happen.
