Ratepayers and residents in the Mount Alexander Shire have a few days left to drop off free green waste at Maldon and Castlemaine transfer stations.
The council’s second two-week free waste period ends this Sunday.
The green waste must not include noxious weeds, be free of contaminants such as rubbish and removed from bags.
The shire’s chief executive Darren Fuzzard has told Robbo on The Wake Up Call that the initiative is aimed at helping residents “prepare for the fire danger period”.
“If you’ve got a bit more green waste to get rid of and you want to take advantage of the free disposal opportunity, then get in there this weekend.”
The transfer stations will be closed on all Total Fire Ban days.
