Musicians are being given the opportunity to perform in one of Bendigo’s premier performing arts spaces, the Engine Room (pictured above) with hundreds of dollars’ worth of free support.
Applications for the Live on View program have opened with City’s CEO Andrew Cooney telling the Wake Up Call : “we’re encouraging bands and musicians from in and around our Greater Bendigo area to put their hand-up,”
“And as part of our investment in this program, we’ll provide the venue, the staffing, the ticketing, and the marketing support,” he said.
“All they’ve got to do is put the show on and we’ll wrap around the rest of the services…”
The Engine Room is located on View Street, next to the Capital Theatre in Bendigo’s CBD.
According to Mr Cooney, Live on View forms part of Council’s commitment to keeping activity up along View St during the Bendigo Art Gallery redevelopment.
“We’re going to make [the program] really affordable, so people can get up there and have a look at some different bands and really keep View St humming over the next couple of years,” he said.
He also says that the Engine Room is a “beautiful” facility and great place to have intimate music events.
More information about the Live on View program can be found here with applications closing next Monday, February 9th.
