After a week of preference counting, it’s now been confirmed Labor’s Lisa Chesters has again taken the federal seat of Bendigo.
In the two-candidate preferred count, Ms. Chesters received 51.4 per cent of the vote, with the Nationals’ Andrew Lethlean receiving 48.6 per cent.
The Australian Electoral Commission recorded a margin of just under 2,900 votes.
In a statement, Ms. Chesters said she was honored to have been elected to represent Bendigo and Central Victoria for the fifth time.
She says she will continue to work hard every day to deliver the things people and businesses in the region need and deserve.
Mr. Lethlean said in a statement he was proud to have been a part of a team that has delivered the biggest swing against Labor in the country.
He says he’s grateful for the response he’s received from the community and knows this is a seat they’ll be able to win in the future.
