Dangerous drivers are in the sights of Bendigo Police this weekend as they attempt to subdue bad behaviour through their Operation Arid.
Operation Arid runs now until midnight on Monday, targeting high-risk drivers during what’s considered one of the most dangerous periods of the year.
Senior Sergeant at Victoria Police, Paul Maslunka, said March is historically a bad month on the roads.
“People are trying to make the most of the weather in one of the last long weekends before we go into winter.”
With the Lost Trades Fair, Harcourt Apple Fest, Bendigo Gift and plenty of festivals drivers are told to stay alert.
He added that many people embrace the heavier police presence while enjoying a long weekend break.
“The vast majority of the public loves seeing us out and about, loves seeing us enforcing road laws and keeping the roads safer for them.”
