A man is expected to front court after driving along the Calder Freeway at more than twice the speed limit.
It’s believed the 60-year-old from Ballarat was travelling north with a passenger in a Mercedes-Benz sedan on Saturday, March 23rd, when the vehicle passed a police car conducting speed detection duties around 4am.
Officers allegedly clocked the car travelling at 230km/h in a 110km/h zone.

In a post shared to the Eyewatch Bendigo Facebook page, police said the car “was safely stopped before it entered Bendigo” in a coordinated effort between Castlemaine’s and Bendigo’s uniform members.
Victoria Police expects the man will be charged with “a number of serious traffic offences” and summonsed to appear before the Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
