Premier and Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan is worried for the safety of her Bendigo staff after a third attack on her local office.
Police suspect two people cracked and spray painted the window with the words ‘Gutless’, ‘Heartless’ and misspelling Spineless – to read Spiness – at her office overnight on Wednesday.
Premier Allan says she is really concerned for her staff.
“Clearly, the vandals who inflicted this destruction on my office weren’t thinking of the staff who work there, weren’t thinking of the business’ and the local community. They were just focused on destruction with no purpose,” Premier Allan says.
“This is all done under the cover of darkness, which is disgustingly cowardly behaviour.
“Come out to the daylight, come and have the conversation. Come and have the policy discussion that is consistent with our demographic right in this state and in this nation.”
Police are continuing to investigate after the criminal damage was inflicted outside the office on Mollison Street at about 2.15 am on Thursday.
“Violence does not solve problems, violence does not resolve policy debates, violence gets you nowhere,” Premier Allan says.
Premier Allan is condemning the Animal Liberation Front after they left a calling card during the attack.
“The Animal Liberation Front has left a calling card as part of this attack,” Premier Allan says.
“It’s unacceptable, it’s disgraceful and I utterly condemn anyone associated with this organisation for these people behaving and acting out in a repeat pattern.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV, dashcam footage or any other information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
