Regional Sober Centre’s Sedative Roll Out

Bendigo and Ballarat are yet to have its regional sobering-up centre established, despite the Government’s promises to cater to all Victorians.

Only one regional site has opened since public drunkenness laws were abolished in November and that’s in Shepparton.

A spokesperson for the Victorian government has told the Herald Sun the places of safety will be opening progressively over the coming months.

Police say while public drunkenness is no longer an offense, officers will encourage drunk people to get support and help from family or friends.
