Rents in Regional Australia Surpasses Capitals

The cost of renting is now increasing faster in regional Australia than in most capitals.

New data from CoreLogic shows even areas that had started to fall are flattening out or trending upwards.

The Quarterly market update shows people are being priced out of inner metro areas and into outer urban and regional centres.

The average Bendigo renter forks out $466 per week, with rental prices rising 6.1% in the past year.

CoreLogic’s Head of Research, Eliza Owen, says the rate of rental increases is rising faster in the regions.
