‘Take More Time, More Breaks’: Central Victorians Motorists Warned of Road Closures Heading To Summer

Local motorists are asked to plan their summer trips, considering the state of central and northern Victoria’s roads.

Leading constable at Bendigo Police Pete Dyer said it’s important Central Victorians monitor conditions and “plan their trip”.
 
“Plan to take more time, more breaks and watch out for those potholes.”

Residents are also advised to check the VicRoads website for road closures. 

The City of Greater Bendigo estimates that 1,100 road defects are present in Greater Bendigo alone.

 
Meanwhile, the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) has launched a powerful road safety campaign, “The Lucky Ones Get Caught”, to reduce the road tolls in Country Victoria. 
 
Director of Road Safety at the TAC, Samantha Cockfield, said the campaign provides a timely reminder with more of us hitting the roads over Christmas.

“I think the campaign provides a stark reminder that people are lucky to be caught by police for doing the wrong thing, rather than being killed or seriously injured.”
