The Loddon Mallee region, which includes the towns of Bendigo, Echuca, Maryborough and Castlemaine, has recorded the most workplace deaths of any region in Victoria.

New data from WorkSafe Victoria has revealed 6 people died on the work site last year, compared to just three in the region during 2021.
Meanwhile, injury claims also spiked last year in the Loddon Mallee, with 1,388 recorded, a jump from 1,317 in 2021

Two deaths occurred in the Campaspe shire, while one occurred in the Central Goldfields shire.
A third of the deaths occurred in the agriculture and forestry sectors.
