The City of Greater Bendigo has announced a new and exciting winter event that will transform Rosalind Park after dark with a spectacular show combining unique sensory, hologram and immersive laser light experiences, starting on Saturday, June 26.
Awaken - Bendigo brought to light is a free event tailored for Bendigo, and will capture the city’s stories and rich history, including Traditional Owners, its gold mining past, Chinese migration and Rosalind Park’s own fascinating history. These themes will be ‘brought to light’ using light, colour and sound.
Stunning laser show displays will see Bendigo Creek and the Cascades light up to reflect Bendigo’s gold mining history. The natural features of the treescape will be transformed with abstract art, colour and light inspired by Bendigo’s local art scene. There will be face projections on tree trunks that will tell the trees’ unique horticultural stories and holograms of Bendigo’s local flora, fauna and wildlife. A homage to Bendigo’s popular tulip display is also included with glowing tulips, and the Poppet Head will illuminate the night sky.
Acting Director Strategy and Growth Terry Karamaloudis said the City was proud to host this free event in Bendigo’s iconic Rosalind Park.
“Attendees will be immersed in a magical sensory experience thanks to the clever use of lasers, holograms, immersive activations, smoke and sound,” Mr Karamaloudis said.
“Awaken kickstarts the new Bendigo Tourism winter marketing campaign ‘IGNITE’, which brings together events and experiences to activate the region during the colder months.
“Awaken and other planned events will appeal to our community and visitors from Melbourne and Sydney, particularly during the school holidays. Being an evening event, it will encourage visitors to stay overnight in our region and explore all the great things we have on offer.”
Awaken - Bendigo brought to light starts on Saturday, June 26 and will run to Sunday, July 17. It will run from 6pm to 10pm, Sunday to Thursday and from 7pm to 11pm on Friday and Saturday.
This is a free public event with no booking required. However, Awaken is classified as a Tier 2 low risk event and will operate under a COVID-safe Plan. Attendees are advised to follow COVID-safe signage and guidelines that will be in place during the three-week event.
