About a hectare of grassland and plantation has been destroyed after a blaze at Happy Valley, south of Ballarat.
The alarm was raised when smoke was noticed in an area close to the Woady Yaloak River
The CFA and Forest Fire Management Victoria sent in a bulldozer, three trucks and a Helitak from Ballarat to tackle the blaze in steep and difficult terrain and were able to keep the fire under control
In Carisbrook a large hayshed on Baringhup Rd has caught fire. The 50 by 20 metre shed holds more than 400 rectangular bales of hay. The CFA is guarding the permimeter of the building and looking for spotting as the hay is expected to burn for at least two days
