A suspect wearing military style clothing  is in custody gumnen remain on the run after the shooting of at least 27 people  at two mosques in New Zealand

Residents  in central Christchurch are being told to stay indoors and schools and businesses are in lockdown.

Emergency service vehicles have surrounded the Al Noor and Linwood Masjid mosques, where worshippers were gathering for Friday prayers

A vehicle believed to have a bomb on it has crashed about three kms from where the shooting began around 1.40 p.m. New Zealand time. The New Zealand Herald is reporting one of the gunman is believed to be an Australian who had written a manifesto declaring his intentions.
