The Melbourne Cup will tour the globe as part of its 17th annual tour, and St Arnaud has made the list.
Announced at Flemington Racecourse yesterday, St Arnaud is one of 39 towns and cities around the world that will see the 18 carat gold cup in the flesh.
St Arnaud is also one of 24 regional destinations allocated a barrier in this year's cup race.
Barriers will be drawn at random throughout the Tour, and the town which draws the barrier of the Lexus Melbourne Cup-winning horse will be presented with a cash prize of $50,000 to be put towards a charity for a local community initiative.
The Cup will visit 32 Australian destinations as part of the Tour, and visit 7 countries overseas, before arriving in St Arnaud on September 4.
