Buloke Shire councillor John Shaw has resigned from council.
Cr Shaw wrote to Mayor Cr Carolyn Stewart and Chief Executive Anthony Judd yesterday to inform them of his resignation.
The Buloke Shire Council says Shaw has recently gained employment interstate which led to the move to step down, and has been granted two leaves of absence this year.
Mayor Carolyn Stewart has called Cr Shaw an excellent Councillor and has been an active member of the Charlton community for a number of years.
"Council wishes John all the best in his future endeavours and thank him for his service,” said Mayor Cr Carolyn Stewart.
Cr Shaw was elected to his first term on Council, in the Lower Avoca Ward, in November 2016, while it's expected the Victorian Electoral commission will undertake a countback to determine his replacement.
His resignation is effective as of next Monday, August 19.
