A Rochester man will receive an Australian Bravery Medal for a selfless act last year.
Lyle Collins helped save his neighbour from an aggressive swarm of bees in February last year, after they had disturbed a wild bee hive when removing an old fence post.
Despite being attacked himself, Mr Collins ran to the nearby house to get items to protect themselves, and covered his neighbour with a sheet after removing the bees before both being taken to hospital for the extensive bee stings.
Mr Collins is one of 17 people who has been honoured for their act of considerable bravery in this month's Australian Bravery Awards.
