The opposition has hit out saying the state government doesn't care about mining jobs in Bendigo.
The Shadow Minister for Resources, Ryan Smith, says the state government's refusal to renew the Bendigo Mining licence is the strongest suggestion yet that there's no interest from Spring Street in supporting mining investment in the state.
Smith says the industry is still an important employer within regional Victoria, and not renewing the licence means local jobs will be at risk.
It comes as Bendigo-based GBM Gold considers legal action against the state's regulator for renewing their licence, a move that could leave as many as ten people without jobs after work at Kangaroo Flat came to a stop last week.
