Locals with illegal, unregistered or even unwanted firearms are being encouraged to hand them in by the end of the month.
It’s part of this year’s gun amnesty, which began last month, across a total of 12 regions in the western part of the state, including Bendigo, Campaspe, Mount Alexander and the Macedon Ranges.
The amnesty also means Victorians can surrender the items anonymously to police, or to their local firearms dealer.
It follows a national amnesty two years ago that saw over 3,400 items handed into police stations across the western Victoria region.
Those wanting to hand items in are asked to get in touch with their local police station before dropping the firearms off.
