Music superstars Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder recorded the duet Ebony & Ivory on the 27th of February 1981.

The song is about the ebony (black) and ivory (white) keys on a piano, but also deals with integration and racial harmony on a deeper, human level.

Written by Paul McCartney, the song was performed live in the studio by both McCartney and Wonder.

Due to conflicting work schedules they recorded their parts for the song's music video separately.

The song was released on the 29th of March 1982 and reached Number One in ten countries including America (for 7 weeks) and the UK.

It became the biggest selling single of 1982.
