British pop trio Banarama released their first single Aie a Mwana on the 5th of September 1981.
It was a cover of a song written by French-Belgian songwriters Daniel Vangarde and Jean Kluger.
The track was first recorded in 1971 under the title Aieaoa and featured on a dance album.
The Banarama version just broke into the UK Top 100.
The girls had to wait until the following year for their first hit, It Aint What You Do, a duet with Fun Boy Three.
