KC Is Still A Boogie Man

Singer, songwriter, musician, producer and frontman for KC & The Sunshine Band, Harry Casey, is 68 on the 31st of January.

Harry worked at a record store before forming KC & The Sunsine Band in 1973 with engineer Peter Finch.

Initially a duo, they brought in other members to complete the line up and make their records.

The band's first four singles all charted and in '75 they had their first Number One hit with Get Down Tonight.

Other hits in the 70's included Please Don't Go, I'm Your Boogie Man, Shake Your Booty and That's The Way (I Like It).

There was a backlash against disco that affected the band's popularity and they broke up in '81 with Harry recording as a solo artist.

Give It Up was released as a solo single in the 84 and became a huge hit.

Harry retired from performing in '85 but made a comeback in '91 after there was a disco revival.

KC & The Sunshine Band continues to tour and shows no sign of slowing down.
