A Celebration For U2's Adam Clayton

Musician and bass player with U2, Adam Clayton is 59 on the 13th of March.

Adam learnt piano before he was ten and his mum bought a bass guitar when he was 14, when he started playing in a school band.

When he changed schools, his new school mates included future U2 band mates Dave Evans (later called The Edge), Larry Mullen Jr and Paul Hewson (Bono).

Mullen placed an ad on the school's noticeboard, which led to the formation of the band Feedback, then called The Hype and finally U2.

Outside of U2 Larry has worked with the likes of Steven Van Zandt, Robbie Robertson and Maria McKee.

In 1996 he recorded the Theme to Mission: Impossible with Mullen, from the hit movie starring Tom Cruise.

As a member of U2, Adam has received 22 Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.
