Bill Haley & His Comets recorded Rock Around The Clock on the 12th of April 1954.


The band recorded two songs in one day, the other being Thirteen Women.

Two takes were recorded of Rock Around The Clock and they were combined for the final mix.

The two singles were released on the same 7" single with Thirteen Women being the A side.

Rock Around The Clock gained popularity when used in the movie Blackboard Jungle.

It was used in another movie, American Graffiti in the 70's and famously as the theme to the hit tv show Happy Days for the first two seasons.

It's been estimated that sales of Rock Around The Clock exceed 25 million making it one of the biggest selling singles of all time.
