The Wonder That Is Stevie

Singer, songwriter, musician and producer Stevie Wonder is 69 on the 13th of May.


As a youngster Stevie learnt piano, drums and harmonica.

When he was 11, he auditioned by Berry Gordy, the boss on Motown Records.

He signed a five year contract and was dubbed Little Stevie Wonder.

His first hit came in '63 when Finger Tips hit Number One.

This started a run of hits in the 60's including Uptight, I Was Made To Love Her, For Once In My Life and Yester-Me, Yester-You Yesterday.

In the 70's he released the classic albums Songs In The Key Of Life and Talking Book.

The hits continued with Superstition, You Are The Sunshine Of My Life, Isn't She Lovely and Sir Duke.

Stevie's biggest hit came in 1984 when I Just Called To Say I Love You hit Number One  in over ten countries.

In the 80's Stevie performed duets with Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson and Julio Iglesias.

He also was a part of the charity single We Are The World.

In the 90's he recorded with Whitney Houston, 98 Degrees and Sting.

Stevie's most recent album came in 2005 with A Time To Love.
