Singer, songwriter, musician and actress Suzi Quatro is 69 on the 3rd of June.
Born in Detroit, Suzi played in her Dad's jazz band before she turned 10.
When she was 14 she joined her sister's all girl punk rock band called The Pleasure Seekers.
In '71 Suzi moved from The States to the UK and was spotted by producer Mickie Most, who had worked with The Animals, Herman's Hermits, Lulu and Donovan.
Her first solo single Rolling Stone was only hit in Portugal but worldwide success was just around the corner.
Her second release Can The Can made Number One in the UK and Australia.
This started a string of hits in the 70's including 48 Crash, The Wild One, Devil Gate Drive and Stumblin' In, a duet with Smokie lead singer Chris Norman.
Suzi appeared as Leather Tuscadero in a number of episodes on the hit tv show Happy Days.
The 80's weren't as kind to Suzi as her recording contract with Mickie Most expired and she was left without a record deal when her label folded.
The single Rock Hard went Top 10 in Australia but did not make a dent anywhere else.
Despite announcing her retirement, Suzi continues to tour, release new music, act and appear on tv from time to time.
