David Bowie released his first single called Eliza Jane on the 5th of June 1964.
David was just 17 and still using his birth name of Jones.
The single written by Leslie Conn and was credited to Davie Jones & The King Bees.
Eliza Jane failed to chart and Bowie had to wait until 1967 for his first hit The Laughing Gnome.
David changed to name to Bowie to avoid confusion with Monkees lead singer Davy Jones.
