Singer, songwriter and actress Debbie Harry is 74 on the 1st of July.
Before becoming a singer, Debbie worked as a waitress, go-go dancer and Playboy bunny.
She met future Blondie guitarist and songwriting partner Chris Stein in the band The Stilettoes.
They formed Blondie in '74 playing regularly at CBGB's in New York.
Their second single X Offender became a hit in Australia but the group had to wait three years for success in America.
The disco flavoured Heart Of Glass became a worldwide Number One hit at the height of the disco craze.
During the 70's and 80's the band had numerous hits like Dreaming, Call Me, The Tide Is High and Rapture.
Blondie broke up in '83 and Debbie went solo having hits like I Want That Man and French Kissing In The USA.
The group reformed in '97 and had success with the album No Exit and the single Maria.
The band has continued to release new music and tour and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
As an actress, Debbie has appeared in numerous films including Hairspray, Videodrome and Roadie.
