Lead singer, songwriter and musician with Aussie rock band The Church, Steve Kilbey, is 64 on the 13th of September.
Steve was born in the UK and moved here with his family when he was 5.
He grew up in New South Wales and when he was 17 he met future Church guitarist Peter Koppes in the band Precious Little.
Steve played in various bands before forming The Church in the late 70's with Koppes and Nick Ward. Marty Wilson Pipers joined in May 1980.
In 1981 the band's second single The Unguarded Moment just missed the Top 20 as did their debut album Of Skins and Heart.
The band's second album The Blurred Crusade broke into the top 10 a year later.
During the 80's and 90's the band had hit singles including Almost With You, Under The Milky Way and Metropolis.
Steve has released numerous solo albums, written books and had exhibitions of his paintings.
Like all good rock bands The Church have had member disputes, break ups and comebacks.
In November the band starts a national tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their hit album Starfish.
Steve has been in Central Victoria a few times recently including as part of the Rockwiz Live Show and was on a bill of an all Australian concert at Sutton Grange in January last year.
