The Day The Dancing Stopped

Actor, dancer and sometimes singer Patrick Swayze died on the 14th of September 2009.


Patrick's first movie role came in 1979 as Ace in the film Skatetown, USA.

In 1983 he appeared along side other upcoming actors Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillion and Ralph Macchio in movie The Outsiders.

His big break though came in 1987 when he played the lead in Dirty Dancing and he even had a hit song She's Like The Wind, that featured in the film.

Suddenly Patrick was a movie superstar and he was in high demand.

His follow up movies in the 80's were box office failures but in the 90's he starred in the hit movies Ghost and Point Break.

In Januray 2008 he became ill with cancer and just over 18 months later he passed away aged 57.
