Horrifying Horoscopes: Do you have the same Star Sign as an Infamous Serial Killer?

As autumn chills descend and Halloween looms, many are turning their thoughts to the macabre. Among the eerie topics gaining traction, we’ve seen a surge in interest in the chilling connection between serial killers and astrology. Is there a zodiac sign that produces more psychopaths? endeavoured to answer this question by conducting an exhaustive study of 500 known serial killers across the globe.

Serial killers have long been the subject of intense scrutiny by some of the world’s leading criminologists, psychologists, and academics. Yet, despite years of study, the key ingredients that combine to create a serial killer remain elusive. What the team at have discovered, though, is the public’s undying fascination with true crime, fuelling the popularity of podcasts, TV shows, and movies.

Their study unearthed some intriguing trends. Four signs—Cancer, Pisces, Sagittarius, and Scorpio—seem to produce an unsettling 40 percent of serial killers. To those denouncing Geminis as two-faced, rest easy. They, alongside Taurus, account for a mere 11 percent.

In the grim contest of number of victims, Capricorns take the lead. Serial killers under this star sign were responsible for over 800 victims, averaging at 19 victims each. Ivan Milat, recognised as one of Australians most prolific serial killers, sits within this group of physcopaths. The least deadly? That title goes to Virgos, who average seven victims each.

A chilling statistic revealed that water signs—Cancer, Pisces, and Scorpio—contribute to a staggering 28 percent of killers and 27 percent of victims. Among the murderers examined, Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio, and Sagittarius dominated, each with 46 killers. The least common? Taurus and Gemini, tied with 27 each.

Astrology enthusiasts might have predicted Scorpio at the helm, given their tendencies towards violence, manipulation, and jealousy. Likewise, Pisces can let their emotions run rampant, and Cancers often grapple with feelings of isolation. Sagittarians, with their unfiltered actions and words, might not come as a surprise either.

The murderers in the provided dataset were responsible for at least 5,125 deaths. Do remember, these figures only represent legally proven or generally accepted numbers. Many killers are suspected of far more fatalities than can be proven.

The deadliest killer on the list is a grim reminder of the lethal potential of Capricorns. UK physician Harold Shipman is believed to have killed more than 200 patients between 1975 and 1998. Meanwhile, the deadliest American serial killer, Samuel Little, was a Cancer. Little confessed to 93 murders between 1970 and 2005, although only 61 victims have been confirmed.

These results, while chilling, paint an interesting picture of the potential dark side of the zodiac. As we approach the season of fright, might we suggest a different kind of horoscope reading? But remember, while it’s fun to delve into the darker side of astrology, we mustn’t let the stars dictate our perceptions of one another. After all, the zodiac is only one piece of the vast puzzle that makes up a human being.
