Man faces drug charges following Bendigo traffic stop

Cash, ammo and drugs have been seized after a vehicle was pulled over by police in Bendigo.

The incident unfolded around 11.10am on Monday, March 23rd when the vehicle was intercepted on Mitchell Street, with a subsequent search by officers allegedly finding drugs, cash, .22 calibre ammunition and knuckle-dusters inside.

They arrested the driver, a 36-year-old North Bendigo man at the scene, who police claim has links to the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang.

After he was taken into custody, detectives then executed search warrants at addresses in North Bendigo and Jackass Flat, locating a safe and “several vials of testosterone”.

Police say the man has since been charged with several offences, including:

  • the trafficking and possession of cocaine;
  • dealing with property suspected to be gained through the proceeds of crime;
  • possessing a prohibited weapon without an exemption;
  • the use of an unregistered motor vehicle;
  • the prohibited possession of ammunition, and;
  • committing an indictable offence while on bail.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
