Asthma-related Deaths Jump 30 percent

An increase in flu and other respiratory viruses is being blamed for a spike in asthma deaths.

Latest figures reveal the number of deaths from asthma has jumped by 30% in Australia over the past year with older women most at risk.

Roughly 16,900 people in Bendigo have the condition, according to 2021 census data.

National Asthma Council’s Professor Peter Wark says those affected should be using a puffer regularly.
