Australia Day Honours For Local Heroes

Many Central Victorians were among the hard-working Aussies recognised with Australia Day honours.

Bendigo’s David Wright has been honoured with a Medal of the Order of Australia for being a key member of the Bendigo Chorale, Bendigo Trust and Bendigo Easter Fair Society. 
 
Meanwhile, Faraday local Christine Brooke has also received a Medal of the Order of Australia for her environmental volunteer work.

In addition, Nandaly’s Judith Richards was also recognised for her work serving the  Eaglehawk United Tennis Club and Eaglehawk Uniting Church since the 70s. 
 
Greater Bendigo also welcomed 66 new Australian citizens from over 20 different countries yesterday. 
 
Our new Aussies sworn in locally hail from a diverse array of different countries, including Kenya, Taiwan, Nepal and Canada, among others.
