Axedale Man Caught Burning More than 1,000 Litres of Industrial Waste

A local Axedale man has been handed a fine and instructed to clean up his backyard after peak environmental body, the EPA, found more than 1,000 litres of burning, toxic industrial waste at his property.

The waste, which is made up of various metals, fence posts, glasses and plastics, EPA North-West Regional Manager Dr Scott Pigdon said was “set alight” around peoples homes. 
 
“This was both illegal and hazardous to human health and the environment,” Dr Pigdon.

“Taking waste like this to a properly licensed landfill or recycling facility is the only way to do the right thing by the environment and your community.” 
 
The man has been fined $1,849.
