Bendigo Madison Cancelled Due to “Unforeseen Circumstances”

Next year’s Bendigo International Madison has been scrapped from the events calendar following delays in upgrades to the Tom Flood Sports Centre.

Junior racing Coach Noel Sens said that many in the cycling fraternity are confused about the aims of the the council project. 
 
“The grass was fantastic, it’s one of the better surfaces I’ve even seen,” he said. 
 
He said they got told “new drainage and wiring” would be installed by mid-November.

On the council website, it issued a statement saying the upgrades have been delayed due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
 
“The recent floods have impacted the ability to source the supply of suitable sand and turf for the surface, delaying the project completion to early 2023.”

The Bendigo & District Cycling Club has said on Facebook that it’s feeling “sad and frustrated” to hear that one of the most iconic sporting events in Central Victoria has been shelved.
