Bendigo photographer Lauren Starr has taken out the Australia’s richest art prize, the national Bluethumb Art Prize.

Her piece, titled Midas’ Daughter II – Golden Still Life, features the artist’s six-year-old daughter painted in gold and surrounded by gold-coloured foliage.
The win sees her secure a tidy $160,000.

It’s the second big win of Starr’s career, after she won the Photography Category Award at the 2021 Bluethumb.
