The town of Boort has some serious bragging rights.

Local butcher, Arnold’s family butchers, claimed the Best Bacon (shortcut bacon) and Best Continental Sausage (Italian casalinga sausage) in Australia.
Owner Jye Arnold said the Meat Industry Council Awards are based on a few factors, for both the cooked and raw product.

“They look for texture, colour, flavour.”
He added that it’s a huge achievement for a “small country town” to come up against big retail giants, and win.
“A lot of country towns are sort of dying but we’re still thriving, we’ve got the lake here as well as and the more people we can get to town the better.”
