Car Thefts Across Castlemaine

Detectives from the Central Goldfields Crime Investigation Unit are investigating a series of car thefts and break-ins around Castlemaine.

The wave of car thefts has led to at least 8 cars being stolen and a further 17 cars victim to the theft of items from inside the car.

Detective Senior Constable Joel Peters from the Central Goldfields Crime Investigation Unit says the offending could be prevented by residents ensuring their cars are locked.

Detective Senior Constable Peters says they are looking for a group of youth offenders.
