Cheap V/Line Travel Promised Post-Election

The Victorian Labor government has followed the Opposition in pledging to cut the costs of V/Line travel.

Daily ticket fares will now be capped on the regional networks at $9.20 for a full fare or $4.60 for a concession.
 
In addition, there’ll be an extra weekday service on the Bendigo line between Castlemaine and Bendigo, as well as 200 extra V/Line services starting from 2024.

Last month, the Liberal/National Coalition pledged to halve V/Lines fares if they win the election.
 
Minister for public transport Ben Caroll said the $1 billion plan will provide cheaper, better rail services for regional families.
 
“It’s a massive regional rail package that puts equity and fairness at the heart of everything we do,” he said.
