Greater Bendigo council needs our help to future-proof Eaglehawk.
A draft document – known officially as the Eaglehawk District Structure Plan and Urban Design Framework – is now in the early stages of development, with the City having begun a period of community consultation.
CEO of the City, Andrew Cooney joined the Wake Up Call this week to explain the importance of the process, which aims to replace the previous plan for Eaglehawk, California Gully and Jackass Flat, published in 2013.
“We know those parts of the community have shaped and changed a fair bit over that decade,” Mr Cooney said.
“We’re going to have some pop-up sessions [throughout] November, and we’re going to hear from people around not just what they love about their community now, but what they’d like to hang onto in the future, and what they’d like to see change in that Eaglehawk and district area.”
According to council, the new document will help shape decisions on a broad range of issues, including land use, housing, heritage and neighbourhood character, transport and access, community facilities and services, recreation and open space, the natural environment, climate change and environmental risks.
The community consultation period closes on December 2nd.
