Field & Game Chairman Calls Out Hunting Ban Debate While Local Wetlands in High Feather

Chairman of Field & Game Australia and local Epsom business owner Danny Ryan said reports that the state government could ban duck hunting before this year’s season is very untimely.

The Andrews state government is apparently seriously considering banning the practice before the start of the new season, which begins on the third Saturday in March. 
 
Mr Ryan told Gold that the local hunting community is gearing up for a big year.

“We’ve probably got the best set of seasonal and environmental conditions that we’ve in the east coast of Australia since, possible, 1956,” he said. 
 
He added that after recent floods there are “millions upon millions of birds” in local wetlands and typical hunting locations.  
 
A ban in Victoria would align with Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia, which all banned recreational duck shooting decades ago.
